Catechesis

"As the head of the household should teach them in a simple way to his household"  These words, written by Martin Luther, give us direction at the beginning of the Lutheran Catechism encouraging education in the Christian faith.

Our hope and prayer for all children of God is that they are able to participate and receive the gracious gift of salvation Jesus has given to the world.  As a means of preparing oneself for proper reception of the most intimate expression of such - The Lord's Supper - it's our practice to instruct of the faith, so that one may properly confess their faith.  (1 Cor. 11:27-29)

At St. John's, catechesis is offered to anyone who wishes to participate.  As children, we ask that at least one year of pre-catechesis Bible class is taken prior to participating in catechesis.  Adults are welcome to join anytime.

Please contact us if you have any questions or wish to begin learning the richness of the Christian faith. ï»¿

Mission through Mites

Beginning in the 1850s, women of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod started local auxiliaries to meet the needs of people—mending clothes for seminarians, equipping hospitals, establishing schools, developing convalescent and retirement homes, assisting orphanages and residences for people with disabilities, gathering clothing, furniture and food for indigents, and funding mission endeavors at home and abroad.

We believe the youth of the church are not the future, but are of the church now.  As such, it's important in our very distracted world to provide a healthy avenue of Godly education and opportunities for our young adults.

St. John's offers monthly opportunities to both continue study God's Word and its application to life, service opportunities, and fun and liesure.

Youth 7th - 12th grade are welcome to participate.
